Scottish agency recruits for ‘ambitious’ growth plans

Seasoned travel professional Debbie Black is joining Glen Travel as part of the agency’s plans for expansion.

Black has 36 years of experience in the travel industry and joins from her role as operations manager at If Only, the trade-focused luxury operator, based just outside Glasgow.

Based in Blantyre near Glasgow, Glen Travel also has three franchised managed branches – Eden Escapes in Cupar, Fife; Allan Water Travel in Bridge of Allan by Stirling; and Stelar Travel in Larbert – and 10 homeworkers.

In her new role as project manager, Black will implement new technology to help the expansion of Glen Travel’s homeworking and franchise capabilities.

Alan Glen, director of Glen Travel which was founded by his father in 1973, said: “We already have a team of highly trained and experienced staff, and Debbie’s appointment will significantly enhance this as she brings a wealth of experience with her.

“At Glen Travel we have ambitious growth plans and Debbie’s knowledge of growing an independent Scottish travel business offering world-wide, tailored holidays will be invaluable to us.”

Black said: “Glen Travel is a business with a firm plan for growth. Alan and his team understand that the future of their business lies in expanding both the number of managed branches and the team of homeworkers. I look forward to supporting these developments.”
