Silversea launches Silver Spirit world cruise

Silversea Cruises’ new ship, the 540-passenger Silver Spirit, is to sail its first world cruise in 2011.


The voyage, a 119-day circumnavigation of the globe, departs Los Angeles on January 20 2011 and will be visiting 60 destinations in 25 countries in French Polynesia, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, North Africa and the Mediterranean before docking in Southampton on May 19 2011.


Prices start from £39,503 per person including meals, drinks and gratuities for the full world cruise, but there are also shorter segments of between 12 and 60 days Prices start from £4,798 per person cruise-only including drinks and gratuities for a 15-day cruise from Singapore to Dubai in April 2011.


Clients who book the full 119 days will receive a $2,000 on-board credit per couple, a free upgrade to business class for the outbound flight to the US and private car transfers, and one night on Silver Spirit on January 19 2011, before the cruise starts, with a gala reception and dinner.


They will also be able to join eight complimentary Silversea Experiences ashore, including a catamaran trip to the Great Barrier Reef, a Champagne junk cruise around Halong Bay in Vietnam and a private visit to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, and four other exclusive world cruise events.


These include a visit to the Penfolds winery, Magill Estate and National Wine Center in Adelaide, a Thai-themed gala dinner and overnight stay in the Krungthep Wing of the five-star Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok and a visit to a traditional souk in Dubai and dinner in the desert. They will also be able to attend a private opening of Barcelona’s Picasso Museum.


The all-suite Silver Spirit launches on December 23 and will be the biggest ship in the Silversea fleet. It has six places to eat – more than any of its other ships – and butler service for all suites.
