Enable Holidays unaffected by Allbury collapse

Disabled specialist operator Enable Holidays is still in business despite the collapse of part-owner Allbury Travel Group on Friday.

Allbury was a shareholder in the Birmingham-based operator, which caters for the elderly, infirm and disabled, but it operates under a separate ATOL licence.

Enable Holidays managing director Lynne Kirby said: “I want to make sure everyone knows we’re still trading. We are a separate limited company and we are trading as usual.”

Luxury specialist Planet Holidays has also pointed out it has no connection to Allbury Travel Group, after its New Barnet office appeared on a television news bulletin on Saturday. Planet Holidays shared a building with Allbury alongside other companies.

Director Mathilde Robert said: “As a small specialist we would like to reassure all our trade partners that we are sound and open for business.”

Administrators have yet to be appointed for Allbury Travel Group, which employed 40 staff. Kirby, who also deals with human resources for the group, said: “The staff will all be made redundant, which is very sad as a lot of them have been around since the company started. It is the end of an era.”

The group had 100 customers abroad and 4,000 booked to travel when it went under.
