Three arrested in Heathrow security alert

Police arrested three men on an aircraft at London Heathrow airport on suspicion of making a bomb threat on Friday.

Officers boarded the Emirates flight to Dubai after the men made threats to the air crew.

The three men, aged 58, 48 and 36, were reported to have been sitting in economy. Two of the men were later charged with making a bomb threat, with one also being charged with being drunk on an aircraft. The third man was released without charge.

The 331 passengers on board were placed in a hotel overnight and their flight left London on Saturday.

Sniffer dogs searched the aircraft but no bomb or dangerous substances were found.

Passengers are facing increased security at airports after the failed terrorist attack on a Delta Air Lines flight on Christmas day.
