Oceania Cruises taps past passengers to fill new ship

Demand for Oceania Cruises’ new ship has “exceeded expectation”, with almost half the capacity of the first five voyages snapped up in less than 12 hours.

Oceania Marina’s five maiden cruises went on sale on Wednesday to past passengers only. They have until January 18 to take their pick of the sailings. On that date, Marina opens up to general sale.

Oceania Cruises president Bob Binder said: “The response has surpassed our greatest expectations. The demand from our past guests is a testament that we are building exactly what [they] want.”

Marina will hold 1,258 passengers and have 10 dining venues. Its Owner’s Suites will be furnished by Ralph Lauren Home.

Only the five inaugural cruises have been announced, starting with a 13-day maiden voyage from Barcelona to Miami on January 22 2011.

That will be followed by two 18-day cruises from Miami to San Francisco and vice-versa on February 8 and 26 respectively, and a 12-day Caribbean cruise on March 16 visiting St Lucia, St Barts, Antigua and Tortola.

A 19-day cruise from Miami to Barcelona on March 28 brings the ship back to the Mediterranean for the summer.

Prices are only available to telephone enquiries by Oceania Club members but will be on the website from January 18.
