‘Burka bandit’ robs Thomson shop

A knifeman disguised in a Muslim burka has raided a third travel agent in less than a year.

The so called ‘Burka Bandit’ walked in to Thomson in Dunstable, pulled out a knife and threatened to stab a customer and two staff members.

He demanded cash before making his getaway in a car on Saturday morning.

The robber is believed to be mixed race and was wearing a black burka with a silver or grey floral design pattern and black plimsolls.

Police are not sure if the raid is linked to two similar crimes last summer for which nobody has been apprehended.

In July last year, a man, also dressed in a burka, threatened two agents in a First Choice shop in Dunstable before taking money and escaping.

And the same happened at Thomson agency in Luton in August.

The police praised the staff at the Dunstable shop and said they had done “exactly the right thing by remaining calm and not provoking the offender.”
