Southampton Airport has been awarded the title of Best Regional Airport at the prestigious Routes award ceremony in Rome. Sheffield City took the Best City-centre Airport prize. Routes is an annual conference covering important worldwide aviation issues and is organised by Travel Weekly’s sister publication Airline Business.

Leeds/Bradford Airport will be linked to the nearby cities if a feasibility study into rail services comes up with positive results. The study is due for completion in November and involves the airport, Railtrack and local councils.
