Holidaymaker changes name to ‘I Hate Thomas Cook’

A 26-year-old woman has legally changed her name to Mrs Lorraine Darla I Hate Thomas Cook And It’s Associates Big Shot Company Treading On The Little Guy Leeks.

Formerly Austin Kettle from Whitton, who is due to get married next February, booked her honeymoon to The Gambia through Thomas Cook in what will become her married name – Leeks.

But according to a report in the East Anglian Daily Times (EADT) she then realised she wouldn’t have enough time to change her name on her passport before flying.

When she contacted Thomas Cook she was told she would have to pay a small fee to make the alteration to the booking.

Rather than pay the fee she decided to change her name to express her personal feelings about the operator.

She told the EADT that she wasn’t angry with Thomas Cook but decided to do it in “a bit of a crazy moment.”

She also said her fiancé thinks she is crazy.

A spokeswoman for Thomas Cook said: “Our sales consultants are trained to give accurate advice.

“All customers are advised that the name on their booking must match the name on their passport.”
