New Cunard ship offers dancing under the stars

Champagne afternoon tea service and supper clubs for dining and dancing under the stars will be among the options available on new Cunard ship Queen Elizabeth.

The palm-filled Garden Lounge conservatory with a vaulted glass ceiling will be the venue, with the Champagne costing a surcharge of $25 per person.

Live musical entertainment will be featured in the evening as part of the dining options revealed for the 2,092-passenger ship which enters service after its naming on October 11.

The vessel will feature the fine dining Verandah as well as the Queens Grill and Princess Grill restaurants located on top of the ship, enclosed by curved panoramic glass walls.

Doors will open from each Grills Restaurant onto an exclusive patio area for al fresco dining.

Steps lead up to a secluded retreat on the ship’s top deck, where Grills passengers have sun beds and dedicated waiter service.

South American, Mexican and pan-Asian cuisine for a supplement of $10 per person are new options in the Lido casual dining venue.

The main Britannia Restaurant with Art Deco features and a sweeping staircase will span two decks.

The Britannia Club is a separate dining room with freedom dining for passengers in AA category cabins.

Pub food will be available from the ship’s Golden Lion bar and afternoon tea in the Queens Room.

Cunard president and managing director Peter Shanks said: “In planning for the dining and bar options on board Queen Elizabeth, we looked for inspiration in venues Cunard has created during its 170-year history and took the best from those.

“With Queen Elizabeth, Cunard will be one of the oldest names in ocean travel but with the industry’s youngest fleet, so it is natural for us to recognise our past while catering for the needs of today’s travellers.”
