Bangkok blasts trigger travel alert

A report of explosions at three locations in Bangkok triggered a travel alert early this morning.

British travellers to the Thai capital were urged by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to follow the advice of local authorities regarding the blasts.

At least two people were reported to have been injured in the small explosions.

The devices exploded at 9am local tine after Bangkok hosted the annual meeting of Asean foreign ministers on Wednesday with many still in the city.

The FCO said in an updated travel advisory: “Initial information is that these have occurred at the Government complex recreational park on Chaeng Wattana Road, near Chong Nonsi BTS (skytrain) station, and in sub-soi (side road) 57/1 of Rama 9 road in Bangkok.

“We are monitoring the situation. Please follow the advice of Thai authorities regarding the explosions.”
