Latin Routes has promoted sales consultant Charlie Mason to business development executive on the back of ‘booming’ trade sales.
Mason, who starts in the role this week, will be responsible for meeting agents in the south of England and Ireland to help and encourage agents to sell the tour operator’s holidays.
He is the operator’s fourth business development executive on the road.
The company claimed trade sales have more than doubled in the last 18 months and led to the creation of a separate trade team to deal with sales enquiries.
Director Martin Johnson said: “Over the past 18 months we have seen our trade business grow over 100%, which is down to the hard work of our business development team. To support the booming growth of the agent side of the company, we have split our travel specialists into separate direct and trade sales teams.”
Since June last year has trained agents from more than 300 agencies, run fam trips, and supported more than 100 agent events, including consumer trade shows held by the trade, in-store ‘meet the expert’ days and dedicated Latin America evenings.
Last year, the operator hosted its inaugural agent academy taking 50 agents to Rio de Janeiro, and another will follow in 2020.
