Specialist operator Discover Egypt has welcomed the launch of easyJet flights from Gatwick to Luxor from November, as revealed in Travel Weekly today.
Discover Egypt already incorporates flights by the budget carrier in its programmes to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, and says the new service will allow for more flexible itineraries.
Commercial director Philip Breckner said: “Luxor has been starved of direct flights from the UK, especially during the peak winter season and so this is extremely positive news for tour operators and the city of Luxor who rely on holidaymakers.
“Egypt continues to grow in popularity as it’s a great value destination with a wealth of good quality hotels, so this is great news for hoteliers in Luxor.
“It may encourage more visitors to extend their stays after the popular Nile cruises or simply to visit the destination in its own right.”
Prior to the airline’s announcement, Discover Egypt had added extra capacity on flights and Nile cruises during October and November to cope with demand.
Discover Egypt is now offering seven nights bed and breakfast at the four star El Luxor hotel starting at £299 per person including easyJet flights, transfers and accommodation.
