Lowcost reports record £25m sales in July

Lowcost Travel Group has reported a record month of sales in July, with revenue 93% up on last year.

Revenue hit £25 miillion as the group took bookings for almost a quarter of a million passengers.

Lowcostholidays and Lowcostbeds booked 110,800 passengers, up 90% year on year, while the groups transfer arm Resorthoppa was up 30% with 131,700 people.

Lowcostbeds continues to deliver the lion’s share of the business, according to Ann-Maria Stacey, the trade-only bed bank’s new head of trade sales.

“Our trade business is really growing from strength to strength as we continue to make significant investments in the sales team, our technology and the product,” she said.

“As well as major recent account wins, we are continuing to focus on the independent sector and as a result have seen the number of agents who book with us increase tenfold over the past six months.”

Resorthoppa also continues to grow ahead of management expectations and is currently on track to surpass the one million passengers carried in 2009.

Managing director Tim Buckman said: “We are pleased with results for the year to date. The summer has been fraught with unforeseen challenges for many and we have worked hard with the trade to help them increase their cross-sell of transfers where margins for them can be as high as 20%.”
