Disney specialist MagicBreaks has joined Midcounties-owned Co-op Travel Consortium.

The online travel agent, set up in 2008, was the biggest member of Freedom Travel Group, part of the Thomas Cook Group which collapsed on September 23.

MagicBreaks, the biggest repackager of Disneyland Paris in the UK, has signed a management services agreement with Midcounties Co-operative. As well as Disneyland Paris, it specialises in selling Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney World Resort Florida holidays.

The OTA said the switch to Midcounties followed months of planning and negotiations.

Tom Dunkley, founder and chief executive of MagicBreaks, said: “This heralds an exciting new chapter in our business, as we look to develop new trading partnerships, leveraging our fantastic brand, MagicBreaks, to expand our portfolio, all supported by a robust, secure, well respected and well-resourced partner. Everyone at Team MagicBreaks is very excited to be working with Alistair Rowland and all his team.”

Alistair Rowland, chief retail officer, specialist business, Midcounties Co-operative, said: “We have followed the amazing growth of MagicBreaks for many years and are delighted to be able to support their next phase of development.

“They are the leading Disney provider in the UK with a great management team, and we are very proud that they have chosen to partner with the Co-op Consortium.”
