Hotelbeds brings in ex-InterContinental Hotels chief

The former head of Inter-Continental Hotels Group is joining Hotelbeds as a non-executive director.

Richard Solomons will become chairman of the advisory committee to Hotelbeds.

He was CEO of IHG from 2011 to 2017 and its chief financial officer prior to that.

The Hotelbeds non-executive advisory committee was established in 2016 following the company becoming independent after being sold by Tui for €1.2 billion to Cinven and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.

Hotelbeds executive chairman Joan Vila said: “We are very pleased to welcome Richard to our advisory committee.

“His appointment reflects both the maturity our business has reached and our renewed focus on strengthening our relationships with hoteliers further still.

“We are already looking forward to the insights, expertise and high-level relationships that Richard will bring to bear in his role.”

Solomons said: “Over the last two years the significant growth of Hotelbeds to become the clear leader in its space has been impressive and I am very excited to be joining at this moment.

“I look forward to working with Joan and his team as they work to make Hotelbeds the partner of choice for hotels everywhere, increasing hoteliers’ margins through incremental, high-value bookings.”

Solomons is also chairman of Rentokil Initial and a senior independent director on the board of Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings.
