Holidaymakers relocated after bug outbreak at LykiaWorld

Holidaymakers arriving at LykiaWorld in Oludeniz are being transferred to alternative properties after a bug broke out at the resort.

A Thomas Cook spokeswoman dismissed reports that the hotel had been closed, but said customers were being relocated.

A spokesperson for Thomas Cook UK & Ireland said: “Following a percentage, however small, of our customers reporting illness at LykiaWorld Ölüdeniz we decided to send an independent hygiene consultant to do a full investigation.

“The conclusion reached by the consultant was that the hotel is operating to a very high standard and the cause of the illness is viral and not associated at all with hygiene standards at the hotel.”

She added:  “As a precautionary measure only, new arrivals will have their holiday in alternative accommodation. We sincerely apologise for the disruption caused but wish all of our holidaymakers a happy and healthy holiday.’’
