Lastminute tight-lipped on McCaig speculation

Lastminute.com has declined to comment on industry speculation surrounding the future of CEO Ian McCaig at the company.

Chief operating officer Ed Kamm is understood to be stepping up to run Europe’s largest online travel and leisure business.

A company statement said: “Lastminute.com does not comment on market rumours or speculation.”

McCaig joined the company seven years ago as COO and took the company through its acquisition by Travelocity.

He became group CEO in 2006 and led the integration of Travelocity’s European business interests with those of the lastminute.com group.

He also headed the acquisition and integration of 14 European businesses, including leading UK travel brands Holiday Autos, Medhotels and OTC.

Lastminute.com announced this week that Mark Maddock is to be its UK and Ireland managing director on a permanent basis, having been in charge of the division on a temporary basis since July.

McCaig, Kamm and Maddock are all due to be attending World Travel Market in London next week.
