Two directors quit W&O

Specialist and luxury travel group Western & Oriental has lost two non-executive directors.

The company announced that Alan Barber and Pamela Harper resigned from the board yesterday.

No explanation was given for the double resignation.

Harper, involved with the operator since 2006 and chairman of its remuneration committee, was previously chief executive of luxury jewellery brand Theo Fennell and held senior positions with Burberry and Hermes.

Barber is a former non-executive director of lastminute.com and was chairman of the W&O audit committee. He was formerly a partner of accountancy firm KPMG.

A W&O statement said: “The board intends to revise its board structure and will provide details of that structure when the company makes its preliminary announcement of results for the year ended 30 September 2010, which are expected shortly.”

Chairman David Howell said: “I would like to thank both Pamela and Alan for their contribution to the board and their kind support over the last few years.”
