Peter Dennis has become Travel Technology Initiative’s first new chairman in more than 20 years.
He takes over from Tony Allen, who has stepped down as chairman following his decision to retire from the travel industry. He previously worked for Sea Containers.
Dennis, who is managing director of Time Communications Group and has more than 16 years’ travel industry experience, hopes to raise the organisation’s profile and increase its membership.
He said: “Through our conferences and forums my aim is for TTI to give the travel industry vital education and guidance on how best to capitalise on the latest technology such as social media and mobile apps. As TTI does not seek to make a profit we can do this in a way that is eminently affordable to all travel companies that join the organisation and participate in TTI events.”
Dennis joined Marriott International as interactive sales and marketing director in 1991 and in 1998 set up Time Communications Group, specialising in internal and external communications strategies in the travel and tourism industry.
