EasyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou is reported to be planning to expand his easyBus venture across Europe.
The airport-to-city centre bus brand is to be expanded into countries including France, Spain and Germany, according to the Sunday Telegraph.
Sir Stelios plans to piggy-back on routes flown by EasyJet and could fund the expansion through a potential stock market listing on London’s AIM market.
It was reported last week that mid-market investment bankers Liberum Capital and Peel Hunt were being considered as possible advisers for a flotation which would value easyBus at about £20 million.
EasyBus was established in 2003 with a service between London and Milton Keynes, using Hendon Central underground station in north London as its terminus point in the capital.
The company promotes itself as the “probably the cheapest and most convenient way of getting” to and from London, from Gatwick, Stansted and Luton airports. The company has handled more than 2.5 million customers since the service began.
