TRAVEL WEEKLY will further strengthen its position as the industry’s leading newspaper for job vacancies when it starts to advertise its recruitment section on the totaljobs.com Web site.
The site, managed by Travel Weekly parent Reed Business Information, provides advertisers with an additional medium for their vacancies and future employees with an easy way to find jobs.
Launched in July, the site currently features job opportunities from 11 other markets, including catering, construction and electronics, allowing users to carry out automatic searches for jobs in their fields of expertise, locations and even salary brackets.
Totaljobs.com publisher David Heath said: “Our ambition is to have the UK’s leading recruitment Web site within the next year. We have seen a large demand for the Internet as a recruitment medium in other markets and we expect it to be popular for travel.
“It provides a quick and easy way for people to find jobs they may be interested in.”
The launch of Travel Weekly’s on-line jobs section will propel the newspaper even further ahead of its competitors in the field of recruitment advertising.
Appointments advertising manager Marcello Di Virgilio, who heads an award-winning sales team, said: “We have many testimonials from clients who have praised us for our service and for the response they have received from advertisements in Travel Weekly.
“We are the market leader for recruitment and we intend to keep it that way.”
The appointments advertising team, which won Reed Business Information’s Sales Team of the Year Award in 1998, has been restructured this year to give it greater presence in the marketplace and more face-to-face contact with clients.
The restructure included the appointment of Virgilio in the newly created management role, and Tim Bowman to the new position of senior field sales executive.
“Tim was taken on to go out into the market and meet clients, something which did not happen before the restructure,” said Virgilio.
Other members of the team include senior appointments advertising executives Anna Race-Wilson, who has been with Travel Weekly for 11 years including three in recruitment and classified, and Toni Griffiths, who was taken on 18 months ago.
All three members will be joining Virgilio at Travel ’99 where they will be on hand to assist and give advice to exhibitors and visitors.
“We now have a team which has lots of experience behind it and Travel ’99 will be a good opportunity for all the members to meet with clients face to face,” said Virgilio. “We will also provide exhibitors with assistance and to take enquiries from anyone who is planning to exhibit next year.”
Every member of the team will be wearing a steward’s badge for easy identification.
Di Virgilio said: “We will be walking around all the time to make sure all our exhibitors are happy, and if anyone needs any assistance we will be glad to help.”
