Actor and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth will be this year’s celebrity host for the Silver Travel Awards.
The ceremony will take place on June 25 at The Wallace Collection in London.
This year 22 trophies will be handed out to those travel companies and destinations that best serve the over-50s market.
Three new categories have been added for this year: Best destination specialist company, best travel deals website and best UK town or resort.
Voting for the awards, of which Travel Weekly is trade media partner, opens on March 1 and closes on May 8.
Managing director of Silver Travel Advisor Debbie Marshall said: “The importance of travel to the over-50s – and the importance of their contribution to the travel industry – remains undimmed.
“Even as the industry has had to absorb recent shocks to the system such as the uncertainties of Brexit, the failure of Thomas Cook and the coronavirus outbreak, the desire of older people to continue to travel is strong.
“With an undiminished sense of curiosity about the world and an appetite for adventure on their terms, the over-50s sector is one that UK travel companies large and small recognise as a key audience and one that can amply repay their investment of time, budget and imagination.”
