Flybe failure: Loganair takes on 16 former routes

Loganair has taken on 16 former Flybe routes following the demise of the regional carrier early this morning.

The Scottish airline is to add nearly 400 new flights each week from existing Loganair bases at Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Newcastle over the next four months.

The first replacement routes will start on March 16, and all the additional services are available to book via agents’ systems.

Loganair has also opened a special recruitment line for former Flybe employees seeking work as pilots and cabin crew.

Chief executive Jonathan Hinkles said moving quickly was the result of “several weeks of behind-the-scenes contingency planning”.

Meanwhile, former Flybe franchise airline Eastern Airways says it is to offer three new routes.

Services between Aberdeen-Birmingham, Southampton-Manchester and Southampton-Newcastle will begin next week. The routes were formally operated by Flybe.
