Sales for Global Travel Group members are up on last year but winter 2011 is proving a struggle, the group’s annual conference was told.
Global Travel Group members were up 4% on passengers and 10% on revenue for 2010. For the year to date, they are down 1% for winter and up 5% for summer.
However, managing director Dave Clayton said not all agents were in growth and the consortium would be offering more tools to help them prosper.
Travel 2 reported a “massive swing” in sales from Global members after last year’s conference, when agents were urged to support preferred partners. Its new website is now delivering 20% of sales for the long-haul specialist.
Clayton repeated this plea today, as he said some agents are still giving sales to non-preferred partners. Global will be providing more online and marketing support this year, he added.
