LATA launches lockdown training incentive

The Latin American Travel Association is offering prizes to travel agents who complete its online training programme while in coronavirus lockdown.

Ten prizes will be up for grabs each week throughout April and May, and will include social isolation ‘essentials’ such themed cookbooks and South American wine, inspired by the BBC’s Race Across the World programme.

The online travel training programme, called Beginner’s Guide to Selling Latin America, was created in collaboration with OTT. It consists of 24 guides covering topics including visa requirements, getting there and tourist highlights, for each country.

Colin Stewart, chairman of LATA, said that the LATA OTT Academy aims to “equip travel agents with the necessary tools, knowledge and resources to better sell the continent.”

“We hope this initiative will bolster the understanding of Latin America as a visitor destination, showcase some of the diverse travel experiences available and ultimately make the travel trade feel more confident in selling the destination, as well as providing some well-needed treats along the way,” he said.
