Passengers have disembarked the last MSC Cruises ship to have completed its sailing due to the temporary suspension of cruises because of Covid-10.
MSC Magnifica arrived in Marseille, France on the final call of her world cruise itinerary.
It called at Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle, all in Australia, and Colombo, Sri Lanka to refuel and stock up on provisions after it left Wellington, New Zealand, on March 10 – the last time new passengers embarked.
The disembarkation of 1,769 passengers started today, and MSC said none of them – or the 927 crew members on board – displayed any symptoms of Covid-19.
Most estimates of the incubation period for COVID-19 range, according to the World Health Organization, are between one and 14 days, with five days being the global average, MSC noted.
MSC Cruises has provided onward travel for all passengers from Marseille, either through on coaches, rail or aircraft, some of which it has chartered.
All MSC Cruises’ ships have now come to a fleet-wide temporary halt, the company confirmed.
