Monarch to return to selling through GDS

A key appointment has been made as Monarch Airlines prepares to distribute to agents via GDS.

Stuart Bailey has become head of airline sales, joining the Monarch Group from Caribbean low fares start-up Redjet.

He previously established sales and distribution networks for airlines including Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Nigeria Airways and Air Aviation Management.

Bailey will be instrumental in managing the Monarch Group’s imminent return to selling via the GDS, with an initial focus on the airline, which carries almost 6.5 million passengers a year.

He will report to group business development director Stuart Jackson, who said: “The GDS is an increasingly significant route to market for Monarch and the airline’s imminent return to selling through this channel is an important step in providing the trade with easier access to Monarch flight inventory.

“Stuart joins the group with a wealth of experience in developing sales and distribution networks and will be responsible for opening up and driving sales through these new business avenues.”
