n first choice director appointments



First Choice deputy group finance director Peter Brown is to become deputy managing director for distribution with Air 2000 managing director Ken Smith taking charge of the airline and aviation division.



n kingston-based agency ceases trading



Another independent agent has ceased trading, the fifth travel agency to go under since August. ABTA said Kingston-based The Holiday Store collapsed due to insolvency on September 13. The failure is being dealt with by the association’s claims department.



n JEA stalls on stock market listing



Jersey European Airways is putting off a listing on the London Stock Exchange, despite achieving record pre-tax profits in the year to March 31 to £7.1m, 36% higher than the equivalent period the previous year. The airline was expected to announce a float this summer, but is now saying it must increase its network first (Travel Weekly April 26).



n worldspan selects new chief executive



Worldspan has appointed Paul Blackney as its new chief executive officer. Blackney, who waspresident and chiefexecutive officer at the global distribution system supplier Apollo from 1993 to 1997, will join on October 11, filling a vacancy created in March by Mike Buckman who decided to leave.



n consultancy in move to change name



BDO Hospitality Consulting has changed its name to TRIHospitality Consulting and has launched a new triangular-shaped logo. The company says the new name, which is short for tourism and related industries, better describes its role in the travel trade.
