The publisher of Travel Weekly in the US has acquired global travel technology research and event business PhoCusWright for an undisclosed sum.
Northstar Travel Media announced the deal on its website describing it as “a move designed to create a global travel research, media and events powerhouse”. PhoCusWright is best known for producing the PhoCusWright Conference, a gathering of global travel industry leaders.
Company founder Philip Wolf will continue to serve as chairman of PhoCusWright as a wholly owned subsidiary of Northstar Travel Media. Northstar chairman and chief executive Tom Kemp said: “The addition of PhoCusWright provides Northstar with leadership in the fastest-growing segment of travel, tourism and hospitality: the convergence of digital technology and the travel industry.”
Wolf said: “Integrated smart marketing, targeted investments and more manpower will help us achieve significant new things for our clients.”
