Check Safety First offers free hotel safety reports

Tour operators and agents can register to receive free health and safety reports from the 1,600 hotels that work with auditor Check Safety First.

The Tourcheck report includes information on food hygiene, fire safety, swimming pool safety and legionella prevention. All the hotels working with the firm are audited on a monthly basis.

Check Safety First chief executive Mark Harrington said: “This will be of huge benefit for agents and small tour operators who often cannot afford to send people out to destinations to carry out checks. It will not only give them peace of mind but help protect them against financial liability.

“The fact that the reports are updated monthly should differentiate it from anything else on the market.

“We would expects agents or operators to contact the hotel if there is anything they are concerned about and ask if it has been sorted out.”

The company started carrying out audits last week and is working its way through the 26 countries in which it operates.

Agents and operators are able to register and download reports from the website tourcheck.eu.com.

Harrington said the hotels it works with in Egypt and Tunisia are starting to return to normal after the trouble earlier this year. “About 70% of the hotels in both places are now back open. They are making sure everything is functioning properly to avoid any further bad press for the destinations.”
