Aito Operators has created an annual award named after its former responsible tourism committee chairman Roger Diski who died earlier this year.
Rainbow Tours founder Diski, who was swept out to sea while on a trip to Sierra Leone, was honoured with on the opening day of the Aito conference with a montage of photos displayed on the main screen to a Sex Pistols sound track.
The award, which was announced after the tribute, will recognise operators who are outstanding in aiding the communities in which they send clients, an area to which Diski dedicated himself.
The award will be one of many given out in a new Aito operators awards ceremony to take place on November 23.
