Thomas Cook managing director of mainstream tour operations Richard Calvert has resigned.
He had been in the role for just two-and-a-half years after joining Cook from Tui UK where he was director of overseas purchasing for the UK and Canada.
Prior to that he spent eight years at First Choice, latterly as overseas purchasing director.
Thomas Cook confirmed he had handed in his notice, and said: “We can confirm that Richard will be leaving the business in 2012, in the meantime he’ll continue to work with us on our mainstream tour operations.”
Travel Weekly was unable to reach Richard Calvert for comment. It is understood that he has no alternative job lined up but is considering a number of options within the travel sector.
News of Calvert’s departure comes after confirmation that Chris Harrison is to leave Cook’s scheduled business division to become sales and marketing director at Dawson and Sanderson and Andy Washington left its e-commerce arm for Expedia.
