Tui Travel’s education division has bought a York-based company providing language courses to overseas students.
The English Language Centre (York) attracts students from 44 countries to its courses.
Tui Travel said it purchased 100% of the assets of the language centre from the private owners, for an estimated cost of £800,000.
Tui Education’s UK portfolio already includes English-language specialist EAC, the Hampstead School of English and the Manchester Academy of English.
The division, part of Tui Travel’s specialist and activity sector has 40 offices in the UK, Australia, Austria, Canada, France, the Republic of Ireland, Russia, South Africa, the US and United Arab Emirates.
It claims to be the largest player in the global student travel market with 35 brands covering school expeditions, sport, ski, activity, education, gap-year and experiential travel.
