Sir Richard Branson is to open the new Branson Centre for Entrepreneurship in Montego Bay, Jamaica today.
The centre will be a hub for entrepreneurs who are passionate about growing successful and responsible businesses.
Branson said: “Entrepreneurship is a crucial factor in creating a strong and sustainable economy, and there is so much untapped entrepreneurial potential in the Caribbean.”
Virgin Holidays is the lead business sponsor for the project, driven by managing director Amanda Wills, who is passionate about giving back to the communities in which she operates.
A spokesperson for Virgin Unite, which is the non-profit foundation of the Virgin Group, said they would welcome support from any partners, not just Virgin Group sister companies.
She said: “Wouldn’t it be great if the whole travel insutry got behind projects like these in destinations everywhere? The world would be a much better place.”
She said Branson was looking for any location where there is low employment and a high spirit of entrepreneurship.
