RADISSON Edwardian Hotels has been given the green light to develop beyond London and fellow franchisee Radisson SAS Hotels can now expand outside Europe and the Middle East.
The two companies, which franchise the Radisson name from Carlson’s Radisson Hotels Worldwide, have both been given the go ahead to extend outside their allocated areas because the parent company wants to generate new portfolio growth.
Radisson Edwardian Hotels’ portfolio includes a total of 10 hotels in London and inside the M25.
Its managing director David Batts said: “We are currently in the final phases of negotiation for management agreements under which we would operate new Radission Edwardian Hotels in the city centres of both Manchester and Birmingham.
“We are also pursuing other opportunities as they arise.”
Radisson SAS Hotels now has 100 hotels in its portfolio with 20 additional locations under development.
The company’s president and chief executive officer Kurt Ritter said: “Since November 1994 we have added a new hotel approximately every other week.
“With a base of 100 hotels, we are now accelerating our development efforts and have set a goal for the year 2000 of 200 hotels in the Radisson SASsystem.
“We are also now exploring new geographic areas such as South Africa,” he added.
Radission SASis currently under negotiation for two new properties in Glasgow and Leeds.
