Jet2holidays has extended the suspension of its flights and holidays programme to mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, but the return date for the Canary islands has not changed.
All holidays to mainland Spain and the Balearics departing up to and including August 29, 2020, will be automatically cancelled and refunded, the operator said in a communication to travel agents.
It said flights to those destinations were now due to recommence from August 30. They were due to resume next week.
However, the restart date for the Canary Islands – currently August 23 – was not pushed back in the latest programme update.
The UK Foreign Office currently advises against all but essential travel to the whole of Spain, and those returning from the country are asked to quarantine for 14 days.
There have been strong calls from the industry to introduce regional travel corridors to allow for quarantine-free travel to areas within countries that pose less of a risk of visitors contracting Covid-19.
Jet2holidays has boosted capacity to Turkey and Greece since the government removed Spain from its ‘safe lists’.
