Marella Cruises has been forced to extend its pause in operations until November 15.
The line, which is run by Europe’s biggest travel group Tui, had been due to restart cruises on September 30 but today blamed “ongoing uncertainty” around travel restrictions for pushing back its suspension of sailings until mid-November.
The Foreign Office currently advises British nationals against taking ocean cruises. This advice has remained in place since early July.
Marella customers affected by the decision have been told they have a range of options, including amending their booking for free with a 10% incentive of the total value of the original booking, receive refund credit and up to 10% incentive of the value of their booking or they can request a full refund.
Earlier this month, MSC Cruises became the first major line to resume ocean cruises. However, the sailings are not available to Britons due to the UK government’s advice about ocean cruise ship travel.
