Silver Moon completes sea trials two months before delivery

Silversea’s soon-to-launch ship Silver Moon has successfully completed sea trials, sailing between Fincantieri’s shipyards in Ancona and Trieste.

The 596-capacity ship completed a week-long dry dock in Trieste after arriving at the Italian shipyard from Ancona. The trials took place from August 8 to August 20.

Due to health protocols, the ship sailed with a reduced crew of 320.

The vessel will be officially delivered on October 30. It will be the second ship to join the line’s fleet this year following the addition of Silver Origin in June.

Roberto Martinoli, Silversea’s president and chief executive, said: “Silver Moon will be an innovative addition to our expanding fleet of ultra-luxury ships.

“Building on the success of our beloved flagship Silver Muse, Silver Moon will push boundaries in travel to unlock meaningful experiences for our guests around the world.”

New culinary programme Sea And Land Taste (SALT) will debut on Silver Moon.

The second Muse-class vessel will also have enhanced and expanded bars, restaurants and lounges.

Martinoli added: “The fact that our beautiful Silver Moon nears completion, despite such challenging circumstances, is a testament to the exceptional resilience and expertise of all involved in her build. For this I am very proud.”
