Travel Weekly and Travel Uni create training giant

Two travel industry powerhouses are joining forces to create the ultimate source of product training for frontline travel agents.

The joint venture between Travel Weekly and award-winning training provider Travel Uni will offer an industry-leading online product with unrivalled technology, support and marketing reach.

As part of the agreement, Travel Weekly will migrate its existing TWacademy courses and Info Zones into the Travel Uni system.

The merger will create a 100-strong portfolio of courses, ranging from destinations and resorts to operators and cruise lines, with more fully-hosted courses than any other provider.

Andy Jordan, publishing director of Travel Weekly, said the partnership would offer an unbeatable training product for travel agents and suppliers.

“We looked at our existing training offering and carried out extensive market research to explore ways to improve it and deliver the very best product for the industry,” he said.

“It became apparent that Travel Uni’s online functionality and customer support far outstripped anything else in the market, and the opportunity to ally that with the industry’s biggest media brand was too good to miss.”

In addition to promotion across Travel Weekly’s magazines and websites, and Travel Uni’s sister magazines including Selling Long Haul, the new training will be integrated into gazetteers.com, the Travel Weekly Group information and advice site used by 75% of retail travel agents.

Sally Oakey, associate director of Travel Uni, said: “This is fantastic recognition for the eight years of hard work and investment we have made in the Travel Uni software.

Travel Weekly has a clear understanding of trade needs and clearly recognised the value of our product and our ability to provide the very best training and communication solutions.”
