Hays Travel shops, homeworkers and Independence Group members will be able to sell all Thomas Cook products again from today (Monday).
Speaking at the Hays Independence Group conference this weekend, founder John Hays said he was confident the insurance issues that had forced a stop-sale on certain Cook products such as flight only, Gold Medal and Flexible Trips would be resolved today.
The company continued to sell packages throughout Cook’s troubled week and Hays was actively promoting the operator.
He welcomed the news of the £200 million loan facility, announced late on Friday night. “If Thomas Cook had gone down the effect throughout Europe would have been massive. It would have taken a lot of UK agents and overseas hotels down with it due to non payment.”
Hays invited Thomas Cook key account manager Sharon Confue on stage to answer any questions during a session.
She told the IG members that they could have confidence in the Thomas Cook group and that it was business as usual.
Confue also passed on a message from Ian Ailles, chief executive for mainstream at Thomas Cook UK and Ireland, thanking the group for the support.
Confue admitted that high street sales had dropped 30% last week.
