Virgin Voyages pushes back start date until May 2021

Virgin Voyages has further delayed the debut of Scarlet Lady by four months until May, 2021 – a year after it was originally due to start sailing.

Second ship Valiant Lady will miss its planned summer debut in the Mediterranean and will not enter service until November 2021 when it will run an inaugural season in the Caribbean.

The start-up line confirmed that it was “working hard” to start sailing from Miami with Scarlet Lady on May 9 and Valiant Lady on November 14.

“The world is not out of the woods just yet and there are still some challenges before we can start sailing,” the company said in a sailing update.

“While we understand this is disappointing, our priority is our Sailors [passengers]: keeping you well and only heading out to sea together when the time is right – wich we believe is very, very soon.”

The line is offering rebooking options and refunds until January 28.

Those making new bookings before March 31 for sailings in 2021 will be able to cancel up to 48 hours before departure and receive a full cruise credit.
