Clare Tobin, managing director of Tui’s specialist businesses, has been promoted within the group’s Specialist and Active sector to become managing director EMEA of the giant’s education division.
Tobin, who started out as MD of Meon Villas in 2003, had been overseeing specialist businesses including Meon, Hayes & Jarvis, Sovereign, Austravel and Citalia, within the Specialist Holidays Group, reporting to Mathew Prior.
She now reports directly to John Wimbleton, managing director of the entire Specialist & Active sector, and takes a place on the division’s board.
Brands within Tui’s education division include Skibound, Travelbound, Edwin Doran Tours and The Real Gap, some of which are booked by travel agents.
Tobin said she would miss her team at Tui’s specialist businesses with whom she has worked for many years, but was really excited by her new challenge.
Tobin’s role will not be replaced, but the bosses of each of the specialist brands will ‘step up’ and report directly to Prior. Prior also oversees Tui’s ski businesses within SHG.
