Sunvil Holidays has announced the acquisition of Greece and weddings specialist Planet Holidays Limited.
The news comes just weeks after Planet was one of a number of companies which was late to renew its Atol licence.
Noel Josephides, managing director of Sunvil, said: “One of the growth areas in the travel industry has been the arrangement of weddings overseas.
“Until now, Sunvil has simply passed on to specialists the many enquiries it receives from clients wishing to tie the knot whilst on holiday because it didn’t have the right technical expertise to handle weddings.
“Planet was the first tour operator to recognise the potential of this market and still remains one of the true specialists in this field. The two companies are, I believe, a perfect match.”
Mathilde Robert, founder director of Planet Holidays, said: “Planet is very proud to become part of one of the leading specialist tour operators in the UK.
“Sunvil operates in some very niche destinations around the world and we will thus gain access to flight seats and accommodation which will substantially enhance our wedding portfolio in addition to our traditional areas of Greece and Cyprus, where Sunvil has also long operated.”
Planet Holidays will continue to trade under its current name and management following the sale.
