Burton appointed to head up Co-op homeworking arm

Tracie Burton is to head The Co-operative Travel Personal Travel Advisors (CoPTA) from next month.

She takes over from Shirley Bell, who has been interim head of the home working division since the joint venture with Thomas Cook in October last year.

Bell returns to her previous role as operations manager within CoPTA from the end of July.

Burton has spent three years within The Co-operative Travel businesses including CoPTA, Cumbria Cruises, Escape and Freedom Travel Group,

She said: “In my view CoPTA is the UK’s premium home working travel company and operates a network of experienced, driven and highly knowledgeable travel professionals.

“I will be focused on driving the business forward and making use of the new opportunities, technology and market leading commercial terms available to us as part of the Thomas Cook Co-operative Travel joint venture.”

Thomas Cook Co-operative Travel director of special businesses Trevor Davis added: “We have taken our time to ensure we secured the correct person for this position and I’m certain Tracie’s outstanding leadership and knowledge of the sector will place CoPTA in excellent stead going forward.

“I’d also like to thank Shirley who has covered admirably during the recruitment process and been a great source of support for the team since she took over in October.”
