P&O Cruises’ Grand Event goes mobile with Nucleus site

Cruise fans can keep up to date with today’s P&O Cruises’ 175th birthday celebrations via mobile thanks to a site dedicated to the channel developed by digital agency Nucleus.

Images and videos of the Grand Event, when all seven of the iconic brand’s ships are in Southampton together for the first time can be viewed on http://175.pocruises.com.

The site also contains a fill history of P&O Cruises, dating back to its time as the Peninsular Steam Navigation Company that was awarded a British government contract in 1937 to operate a weekly mail service to the Iberian Peninsula.

Nucleus said the site has been designed to be responsive to the device being used whether PC, smartphone or tablet.

It integrates a Twitter and Instagram feed which is showing all tweets with the event hashtag #GrandEvent and has links to onboard webcams and a ship tracker service.

All seven ships will parade out of Southampton later on this evening as they embark on special Grand Event cruise itineraries.
