An earthquake struck off the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius today.
The US Geological Survey said the quake measured 5.8 on the Richter scale.
It was centred 212 miles northeast of Rodrigues island at a depth of 20.5 miles.
The USGS initially put the magnitude of the quake at 6.7.
No tsunami warning was issued on the island as no tremors were felt in Mauritius or neighbouring Rodrigues, a Mauritius Meteorological Station forecaster said.
