A private members club in Chelsea has been transformed into a boutique hotel.
No.11 Cadogan Gardens began life as three townhouses, was a home from home for aristocrats, diplomants and politicians in the late 19th Century, but now exists as 54 rooms, four suites, and a series of meeting spaces including the Mirror Room, Conservatory and two private outdoor terraces.
The hotel describes its interior as “dramatic and alluring” thanks to glossy dark wood panelling, heavy drapes framing the hallways, and soft lighting throughout.
The rooms are individually decorated with a view to creating “vintage glamour” using ornate headboards, dramatic four poster beds, decorative baroque chaise longues, spectacular Murano glass chandeliers, and delicate fabrics.
Each room is equipped with the latest technology such as plasma screen TVs, and marble en-suite bathrooms have stand-alone tubs and Molton Brown toiletries.
The bar area is designed to encapsulates the feel of a romantic film noir, with masculine dark walls and wooden floors, pink chandeliers and lavish velvet seating. The bar serves a full range of classic and innovative cocktails, fine wines and beers, plus menus including continental breakfast, and light meals.
In contrast, the restaurant is a full of light with floor-to-ceiling windows, mirrors covering the roof and back wall, and elegant chandeliers. Delicate artisan dining chairs upholstered in cream velvet sit on a monochromatic chequered floor. Private dining is also available for groups of up to 30, with an open-air courtyard seating 12 people. It offers modern British food produced using seasonal ingredients.
Rates start from £225 per night for a Superior Room.
