Lord Snape joins Affordable Car Hire board

Former Labour minister Lord Snape has joined the board of independently-owned car rental company Affordable Car Hire.

As a non executive director the former MP for West Bromwich East will work alongside chief executive Angela Day in driving the business’s growth strategy.

The ex-Labour transport spokesman has also served as chairman of Travel West Midlands, part of the National Express Group, and is chairman of his home town football club Stockport County.

Day said: “We are delighted to have appointed Lord Snape to the board as he brings with him tremendous commercial acumen and experience from his time in both industry and politics.

“He is passionate about the travel sector and I’m sure his input will be invaluable as we look to develop our car hire business by growing our agency revenues and through overseas expansion.

Lord Snape said: “Affordable Car Hire is a young, ambitious business which has enjoyed tremendous growth since it was formed in 2004 and I’m really looking forward to working with Angela and my other board colleagues in spearheading the next stage of the company’s development.”

The company is the only car hire firm that has Abta principal membership.
