Biras Creek closing for refurb

Agents met to learn about the transformations under way at Biras Creek as the resort’s new general manager told of his desire to get more tourists visiting from the UK.

Since taking up his new role in the British Virgin Islands, Craig Stolzenfels has been busy upgrading the boutique resort in Virgin Gorda as part of a $1 million refurbishment.

Mr Stolzenfels has also been travelling around Britain to encourage agents to get more tourists visiting following a dip in UK sales.

He said: “We are continuing to grow our UK sales which at its lowest was at about 7%. We are now back up to about 12% and we are continuing to grow further. At one point our UK sales was at about 35%.

“I wanted to come and meet with agents here to show them that I have been listening to what they have been telling me and to show them that I am making the changes and improvements necessary.”

All 31 suites are to be upgraded, with public areas being improved too.

The suites will have new furniture and telephones, while the outdoor shower rooms in the Garden and Ocean suites will be re-tiled.

The resort will be closed between August 11 and October 14 for the renovation works.
