Tui is to open its first ‘next generation’ store at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent.
The new 2,187 sq ft store opens in late summer and aims to make use of the latest technology to enhance the experience of choosing and booking a holiday.
Thomson said the store would have a very modern look and feel, with a video wall shop window and an interactive map to help customers research their holiday.
High definition screens and projections around the store will feature changing images, videos and social media commentary.
Customers can choose from sitting around a laptop in the ‘pool area’, self-serving at the Advice Bar where staff will be on hand to answer questions or have a more personalised experience in the booths where relevant holiday images and video content will be projected on the wall.
Kathryn Ward, director of retail for Tui UK, said: “We chose Bluewater for our first next generation shop due to its prime position as the number one retail destination in the UK.
“Work will start fitting out the store very shortly and we’re very excited about welcoming our first customers later this summer.
“We’re combining the knowledge and expertise of our people with a range of technology that will really bring choosing and booking a holiday to life.”
The Thomson store will be located on Thames Walk on the Upper Mall.
